The American Academy for Certified Financial Litigation (AACFL) has opened a new Orlando Chapter this January. Politis & Matovina, P.A. is excited to announce that our very own Attorney Dayanna Lopez is a Founding Member!
The goal of the AACFL and its new Orlando Chapter is to create, encourage, and support a future league of divorce attorneys who are capable of handling complex financial issues their clients face. As the modern economy keeps changing, so do the financial rules, expectations, and consequences of a divorce or separation. Without formal financial training, like that which the AACFL makes available, attorneys are expected to help clients reach important financial decisions essentially on a whim or with guesswork. The underlying idea is that an experienced divorce attorney is great, but one with impressive financial and economic knowledge is undeniably better.
Another benefit of more attorneys signing up for the CFL™ Training Course on financial issues that can come up in divorce is that it should help streamline more and more divorce cases in the future. Judges often have to hammer out the details for child support, spousal support, and property division because complex financial questions have not been addressed before going to court. Divorce lawyers with keen understandings of financial issues can help free up the judge’s time – and that of their own clients – by sorting out these details ahead of time.
